Blind Velvet Worm

ENDANGERED

The Blind Velvet Worm (Tasmanipatus anophthalmus) lives in eucalypt forests. Because the worm moves so slowly, its prey does not see it approaching. The worm catches its prey by shooting out sticky ropes up to 30cm long. The string paralyses the prey when it connects with it. The worm then uses the knife in its jaw to open its prey.
